Two months after TF1+ content arrived on Netflix in France, nearly a third of active Netflix accounts in the country have used Netflix to watch on demand TF1 content. Launched in June 2026, the partnership brings TF1's five linear channels and TF1+ on-demand programming to French Netflix subscribers, the first deal of its kind between Netflix and a major free-to-air broadcaster at this scale.
Using data from SoDA (Digital i’s proprietary SVOD and YouTube measurement system) across June and July 2026, we have crunched the numbers and three early stories have emerged.
- Reach: TF1+ titles reached 2.9 million Netflix accounts, 30% of all active accounts in France, this indicates strong early take up on the service.
- Reality TV: the partnership has turned a niche genre on Netflix France into a meaningful part of the offer.
- Older audiences: TF1+ content skews towards 35+ households, a segment Netflix has been growing into and where headroom remains.
Nearly a third of Netflix France has watched TF1+
Over June and July, TF1+ content reached 2.9 million Netflix accounts, 30% of all active accounts in France. TF1+ content generated 31.6 million title streams and 28.5 million hours of viewing. That is a broad reach for content that Netflix subscribers could already watch for free via TF1+ directly.
Reality TV broadens Netflix’s content slate
Reality TV accounts for 28.2% of TF1+ viewing on Netflix in France, twelve times its 2.3% share of viewing overall on the platform. Netflix has experimented with the genre through its own unscripted formats, but it has never been central to the offer. TF1 content changes that.

Secret Story, a reality series not dissimilar to Big Brother (and also produced by Endemol/Shine Banijay), leads the way. It was the most-streamed TF1+ title by a wide margin, with 7.2 million streams and 346 million minutes, three times the streams and twice the minutes of the next title, Joséphine, ange gardien.
The result is a broader Netflix offer in France. A catalogue built around global hits now carries a substantial block of local reality and comedy content, genres where French broadcasters have long-standing formats and loyal audiences.
An older audience, and room to grow
TF1+ viewing on Netflix skews older than the platform as a whole. Couples and singles aged 35+ account for 24% of TF1+ viewing, against 20% across Netflix France.

The sharpest lift is among singles 35+, whose share of viewing rises by three percentage points on TF1+ content. At the other end, under-35 group households are under-represented by 5 percentage points.
This matters because viewers 35+ have been a key growth audience for streaming in recent years, and they are also the most loyal audience for free-to-air television. Many 35+ households still do much of their viewing on linear channels, which leaves headroom for Netflix to win more of their time. Familiar broadcaster brands and formats like Secret Story and Joséphine, ange gardien give Netflix a route to that audience more frequently.
What’s next?
Some key questions remain in understanding the long-term success of this strategy for Netflix. Early indications are positive, and it is yet to be seen whether or not Netflix will seek to establish similar partnerships in other markets.
It also remains to be seen if this has a positive or negative impact on viewership on TF1+, and to what extent viewership on Netflix is incremental.
We will be tracking all of the above, only granular behavioural audience data can provide a true understanding of how content distributed across multiple platforms can impact on the way in which people discover and engage with content.
